Privacy-First Smart Home Technology, Explained Plainly

Before you let a system into your home, you deserve to know what it collects and who can see it. At Vista Family Tech, our approach starts with clear consent, limited data, household controls and plain explanations.

This page is a plain-language guide, not the full policy. Review the specific privacy policy and service terms before choosing a system; those documents govern the service.

The decisions behind the design

Four Commitments We Design To

Every household has different needs. These principles help families decide what a device should do, what information it needs and who gets access.

Your home. Your decision.

Collect only what is needed

Choose sensors around an agreed purpose. Camera-free monitoring options are available for families who want alerts without adding cameras to private rooms.

Start with the purpose

For example, a family may want a movement alert at a particular time. Ask which sensor event supports that alert and whether a camera is necessary.

Keep practical control

Notification recipients, permissions and service settings should fit the household. Ask about pausing a sensor when routines change or visitors are at home.

Make changes as needs change

Families can review who has access and adjust the agreed settings. The available controls depend on the selected device and service.

Explain the system clearly

We explain what a device is for and what information it may use. PDPA-conscious practices guide our approach; the written policies set out the specific terms.

Ask us to make it specific

Before you decide, ask us to walk through the selected device, its settings and the relevant policy sections in everyday language.

Settings that stay understandable

Controls You Can Change Yourself

Ask for a walkthrough using the devices and people in your household. Available settings depend on the service you choose.

Change the setup when life changes.

Set alert sensitivity and quiet hours

Choose which alerts matter, who receives them and when notifications should be quiet. Confirm the available schedule and sensitivity options for your selected device.

Review household and caregiver access

Ask how to add or remove a household member and what each access level allows. Give access only to people who need it for the agreed purpose.

Pause a sensor or service

Check which sensors can be paused and how to resume them. A pause may affect alerts, so confirm what changes before using this setting.

Ask about access, correction or consent

Contact us to ask how to request access to or correction of information, or how to withdraw consent. The formal policy explains the relevant process.

Know the limits

What Our Technology Does Not Do

Home technology can support family awareness. It does not replace emergency services, medical assessment or professional care, and it does not diagnose a health condition. Do not rely on a household device as an emergency response service. Automatic emergency dispatch is not included unless separately agreed and applicable requirements are met. Household data is not used for advertising. Review the privacy policy and service terms for the specific rules that apply.

Technology has limits.
